SUMMARY  
Provides standardized initial new hire clinical training as well as coordinates remaining clinical training via other supportive staff and training team. 
 
Demonstrates quality patient service during interactions with patients, coworkers, and vendors:

Meets attendance and tardiness expectations 
Is dependable; follows policies and procedures 
Maintains professionalism in interactions with patients, physicians, and coworkers 
Performs quality work and consistently exhibits initiative 
Experienced and efficient in utilizing the Microsoft Office suite
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
Provides and coordinates a centralized clinical training, which ensures staff receive standardized initial training, are able to exhibit specific competencies at determined weeks of training and provide evaluations and recommendations prior to placement within the clinic.  Collaborate with the managers and trainers in each department to coordinate training dates and assignments for new technicians (and other staff and/or observers) with the intent of providing ample training opportunities to become competent in the areas. 
Assesses the competency level of technicians and clinical staff to determine which parts of the training are needed. Make recommendations to the appropriate clinic manager(s) and trainers and provide and/or coordinates the recommended training. 
Communicate with trainees regularly to assess skill level and understanding of material. Ensure that trainee is appropriately moving through the learning points of the program. Provides feedback to education manager for further troubleshooting and suggestions to move forward.
Works collaboratively with Clinic Managers during training process. 
Helps in acclimating new technicians to the practice including ensuring that new technicians have appropriate study materials are aware of training courses and education opportunities, and are able to set expectations and timelines for training, etc. 
Provides training as needed to clinic technicians and trainers. 
Audits Technicians’ charts to ensure MACRA/MIPS measures, exam components and Doctor preferences are being met.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 
IJCAHPO Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or higher preferred with training experience, or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) with 3 or more years of ophthalmic training experience. There is an expectation of obtaining COT certification within 12 months of hire date.  
 

Location: Work takes place in a normal office/clinical environment. Travel to other CEI locations is necessary to fulfill essential duties and responsibilities of the job. Thus, those needing to travel for work must have access to dependable transportation, and driving record must meet company liability carrier standards. Home site and office will be at the CEI Blue Ash location.
 
Exposure:   Works in normal office environment during normal business hours. May be exposed to blood or bodily fluids. May also be exposed to various cleaning supplies.   
 
Equipment: Regularly uses Ophthalmic equipment/devices per sub-specialty requirement such as keratometer; phoropter; visual acuity measuring/B-VAT; corneal topography unit; slit lamp microscope, telephone, computer, fax, printer and copier.  Other equipment may be used as needed. Must be able to work with precise tools and equipment; must have dexterity to use these items correctly and safely. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment.
